Welcome To BAM U!

This site is a hub for Dads of a new generation who want more positive and meaningful interactions with their girls. It challenges the old-school notion that fathers are emotionally inept buffoons and that girls should just “go ask your mother” when it comes to issues of peer pressure, bullying, self-esteem, body image, and sexuality education.

Listen up, Dad!

Your daughter actually wants guidance from you (yes, YOU!) on issues related to dating and relationships. Ready to throw out the out-dated notion of “the talk” in favor of ongoing open communication?

Studies show that your daughter is more afraid of becoming fat than she is of you dying.

Did you know that 1 in 4 teenage girls has a sexually transmitted disease?

Are you familiar with “Mean Girl” culture and how to cope with it?

Some appointed judges say your parental rights end at the school house door. Are you ok with that?

What’s the sex-ed curriculum at her school? What age does it start?

Remember peer pressure and locker room chats?

That boy next door just texted your daughter a picture…

Thinking about this stuff can make anyone’s head spin, but don’t worry, Dad.

Be a Man University has got you covered!

Through a series of MAN-tras, our upcoming book, Have a Daughter, Be a Man will serve as a how-to-guide for Dads who want to get in the game and engage with their daughters in a more authentic way.

We hope you’ll check back often for updates to this site including new and exciting info about the book, hilarious blog posts, our new fatherhood forums, Dad resources, merchandise and much, much more.

What Does It Mean to “Be a Man”

So, here we are, telling you to “Be a Man”. What do we mean exactly? How do we define it? What are the rules? Who’s in the club?

You are! No matter who you are, no matter what your strengths or weaknesses are, if you are reading this, you belong here. We throw out the cartoony, lunk-head stereotypes of what a man is or “should” be and break it down like this:

  • If you’re following your natural instincts with good intentions in your heart to fulfill your role as the best Dad you can be; YOU’RE A MAN.
  • If you strive to be the one true protector and safe guard of your daughter; YOU’RE A MAN.
  • If you strive to listen to your daughter twice as much as you talk to her; YOU’RE A MAN.
  • If you know at times that you may stumble and fall, but vow to never, ever quit; YOU’RE A MAN.
  • If you are there for your daughter every step of the way as her parent and not her friend; YOU’RE A MAN.
  • If you decrease conflicting self-interests to increase time with your kids; YOU’RE A MAN.
  • If you take a proactive stance by educating yourself; YOU’RE A MAN.
  • If you vow to fight gender stereotypes, show respect for women and say no to sexualized, misogynistic images and messages in our culture; YOU’RE A MAN.
  • If you have vices, addictions, or other distractions interfering with your daily life, and you seek change or help to overcome barriers; YOU’RE A MAN.
  • If you support and encourage other Dads while keeping judgments to yourself; YOU’RE A MAN.
  • If you do the tough thing because it’s the right thing; YOU’RE A MAN.
